Welcome to FirstCare STAR

FirstCare STAR is a health plan that gives you all of your Medicaid benefits and more.With FirstCare STAR it is easy to get checkups, lab, hospital stays, eye glasses, and other care.A large group of doctors and hospitals is there to help you when medical care is needed. Free transportation and childcare for medical visits can be set up.

 FirstCare also has free classes for:

• Expecting Moms
• New Parents
• Young Children and Teens

How does FirstCare STAR work?

When you join FirstCare STAR, you will pick a doctor.The doctor you pick will be your primary care physician (PCP). This doctor will help you when you need medical care.

You will be sent a FirstCare STAR ID card. The doctor you choose will be listed on your FirstCare STAR ID card. When you visit your doctor, you will need to show your FirstCare ID card and Medicaid ID form.

What are the Benefits of FirstCare STAR?

In FirstCare STAR, you get the same regular Medicaid benefits, plus:

• You and your children have no limit on RX
• Adults get one physical exam a year
• You get hospital care as long as medically needed
• You get "value-added" services

• One allergy-free pillow cover once a year if you have an asthma-related illness within the past 18 months
• Up to $75.00 more to spend on eyeglasses frames per year
• Free diaper bag for high-risk pregnant Members completing visits during pregnancy
• Two extra food counseling visits above the STAR benefit for certain Members
• 1 discount coupon up to $15 off over-the-counter medicine once per year.
• You get free "extra" benefits
• 3 Free meals a day for one parent of a child in the hospital (Covenant hospitals only).
• A 10% discount at Covenant cafeterias in Lubbock, Plainview and Levelland. Must show your FirstCare STAR ID Card.*
• HealthCheck newsletter - mailed to Member's home once a year
• Free Daycare at Covenant Child Care Center (with doctor visits only)
• Free inpatient parking (Covenant Hospital and Covenant Lakeside)*
• Free out-patient parking (Special parking lot on southeast corner of Covenant Hospital) *
• Gifts for completing prenatal classes

*SSI or SSI-related Medicaid Assistance Only (MAO) clients can receive the extra services that have a "*" next to the service.
