Medicaid/CHIP—Hurricane Harvey CHIP Copayments Notice

Tuesday, September 5, 2017

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) approved the state's request to waive Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) copayments for members with a permanent address in one of the Hurricane Harvey Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) declared disaster counties. Copayments are waived for services provided from August 25, 2017 through November 30, 2017. Therefore, providers must not require or collect copayments for CHIP members living in or displaced from a Hurricane Harvey FEMA-declared disaster county.
